Author: Keri Arthur
Series: Ripple Creek series Book 1
Released: 2003 but released under Dell books in 2012
Star Rating: 4 stars
Audience: 18 and older
I enjoyed this book. I am glad Keri Arthur had it re-released so that those of us who never had the chance to read them can. This series was created before the time of Riley Jensen's world. It is still enjoyable and has the wit, danger, and love of her other series. However, the difference from her newer books is that is has both the male and female view points. I really liked this. I finally got to see through the eyes of the men in her world. Whereas her newer series we only see through the heroine's eyes. But I will say this, the book is not for those under the age of 18. There is sex and a lot of it but it does not overwhelm and take away from the actual story.
The story starts off with Neva Grant who is looking for the person who attempted to kill her sister and has murdered three others. In order to do this she feels she has to get into bed with one of the famous Sinclair's. While in the process of this, she battles her feelings for Duncan Sinclair throughout the book. Her father despises the Sinclair's because of the Moon Dance's and feels a wolf should wait until they meet their soul mate in order to complete the bonding process. So this affect's the way she reacts to Duncan toward the end of the book. We also see the strong connection she has to him and also to her sister Savannah. Little does she know she is treading fine water with the murderer.
Duncan Sinclair. I really liked him. Yes, he treated Neva a bit rudely in the beginning but that is understandable because he didn't understand her reasoning for seeking him out. But once he finds it all out it's as if everything snaps together with him. The tension was so thick between the two you could cut it with a knife.
All in all I enjoyed this book. I figured out who the killer was quickly but even though I did the reveal still made me shake my head and say "why?". If you are a fan of her books this is another must read series.
Can't wait for the next book regarding her sister Savannah.
Happy reading!

Disney characters
Yes, most would say this is unhealthy to be in love with some fictional character who was a larger version of a wolf for most of the movie. I say that is was just foreshadowing my love for those characters who are a little extra different from the rest of us.
I remember the first time I saw Beauty and the Beast. We still had VHS tapes and had to watch them on our tiny tube tv's. I cried when Gaston stabbed Beast in his side and then fell over the ledge. I was amazed by how much strength he had left to crawl back up the side of the castle to Belle. Belle helping him to the ground and how she tells him she loves him and a single tear falls down her cheek on to Beast and gives him a kiss as he breathed his last breath. By now I am bawling my eyes out asking my mom how can they kill him. You have Miss Potts, Chip, Lumiere, Cogsworth all looking on saddened that the spell would never be broken. Then a miracle happens, sparks start shooting onto the terrace and Beast is magically little up and light came out of his body and he turns back into a human. As a child my heart was pounding so hard and I couldn't stop shouting how amazing that is and that magic is a powerful thing. That Belle and Beast will have their happy ever after. That moment of transition is still the most magical moment to me even as an adult. I still love this move and will forever until the end of time. When I have a daughter that will be the first Disney movie she will see.
As an adult I feel that the movie also teaches you a lot. Such as don't just people by their appearances. They are very deceiving. Always try to look beyond it because you can always find something good about a person. Also for girls Belle projected a girl who loved reading which showed being smart is a good thing. It also means that she didn't have to settle for someone such as Gaston who only saw her as eye candy rather than a smart intellectual female. Belle is the ultimate "I don't need to depend on a male" female when it comes to Disney characters. Not put down Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping beauty and Ariel but those characters actually needed saving. Big time saving by their prince charming's. However, Belle didn't need to so much. The only time she needed saving was when the wolves attacked but even them she took care of Beast after he was deeply injured and then she went to save him again when the villagers attacked. This was very appealing to me as a little girl and still is.
There are times when I wish they would make a movie of Beast and Belle with kids. I would have loved to see how it all turned out. But that's just the hopeless romantic in me. Always wanting to know where it ended up.
This was my favorite movie. Who was your first love? Did that movie foreshadow what you now read? I am only talking about Disney character's not human movies. Maybe later on I will go into my love for the movie "The Crow" with Brandon Lee but not right now.
Until next time...
The Man Within book review
Author: Lora Leigh
Series: Feline Breeds book 2
Star Rating out of 5: 3 stars
I know, I know some of you may think my star rating for this book is low but it fits how I feel the book was at for me. I love the breeds i have loved them since my first glimpse of Cabal St. Laurents in Coyotes Mate. Yes, I did read the books out of order but once I realized that they had an order I read Bengals Heart then read the books as I found them at the books store. So which ever was available at the time I read. Therefore, I never got the chance to read her much earlier books from Ellora's Cave. I had read all of her newest books first. Which brings me to my rating. I don't feel that this book is as great as her newer work which is good because it shows she is growing in writing. I felt that there was not enough story line besides the mating. Yes, I know the mating is extremely important because that's what ties our two main characters together. However, you really didn't get a sense at who was breaching the grounds and what they truly wanted. Did they want Merinus and Roni or did they just want one or the other? I got the meanign and the jist of the story but it didn't make me love the chracter's like I fellt for Cabal , Merc, and Cassie in the newest books.
Roni (Veronica) grew up learning how to fend for herself since her mother passed away and her dad was a deadbeat. Through most of her teen years there had always been one constant in her life Taber Matthews. Her knight and shining armor. The story starts off with a scene from for years prior to when the actual main story picks up. We get to see the attraction between the two and then bam something happens. Then picks up four years later when Merinus and Callan announce to the world about the breeds that had been created. Soon Roni is caught up with press and is swept away by the breeds and brought back to the mansion that they were given to by the government. As time goes by we learn new bits and pieces about what happened, how things happened and much more that would ruin the story if I just give it away.
Roni, I feel is headstrong, she can be smart but an idiot at the same time. As most breed mates feel she also feels. As if she has been forced with this heat. She wished that there was a cure to it all. You can tell she loves Taber but it takes her a long while to get over her past and move on with the present. Though she is selfless, she would give her life up for Merinus in a heart beat. This shows heart and courage since she hasn't know the woman long. All in all she is not that bad of a female just not my favorite :)!
Taber is an alpha male who likes things his way or no way. He will do anything in his power to have it his way. Even if it includes pissing off his mate Roni. I liked him because he put her first. Even if it means pissing her off and keeping her in the house.
I recommend this book because in order to get a feel for all the characters in a series where they are continuously popping up you must read all the books. Even if that includes the much earlier ones that are much harder and more expensive to find. Not to mention Mercury, Cabal, Tanner, Dawn, and Seth all make appearances this this book. Foreshadowing what books will be coming up in the future of the series!

Once Bitten Book Review
Author: Trina M. Lee
Series: Alexa O'Brien, Huntress Series
Star rating: 4 stars
I found this book on Amazon as a free read. As most free reads I am skeptical of whether or not it will be good or lack a plot. This is another writer who has slowly changed my views. Not only did it have plot but the feelings that the writer brought up in me were crazy. I felt, lust, hate, anger, love, sadness, and many more emotions.
The story revolves around a werewolf named Alexa who was changed when she was just a little girl who watched her parents die. She survived the change from the bite the wolf left her with. Later on in the series we find out who this wolf is and the reasons behind it. Though it's no9t till the very end of the book. I on the other hand had my suspicions throughout the book and needless to say I was right about who it was. Throughout the book there are dead lover's of her former Alpha's showing up and no one knows who is doing it. On the side of this Alexa is drawn to Arys a vampire who hold power. Their relationship is complicated as well as her relationship with pack mate Shaz.
Let me start off with saying I wish Arys was a real person if I had that type of connection with someone I would not let it go. Not ever for a wolf I thought I was in love with. No way no how. Yes he has a deep and dark past but what vampire doesn't? I mean honestly. Yes, he has his fair share of women but that is in the nature of all supernatural beings. You can tell he cares for Alexa the first time you meet him in the bar. The way he watches her, the way he wants her, not to mention the fact he always wants to come to her rescue. But because Alexa doesn't really want a relationship he is willing to back off. I mean really he couldn't get any better....
Now let me go onto Shaz, pack mate and white wolf. They have know each other for a long while. He has been in love with her from the beginning. He is a bit bland though for me. I just don;t see what she sees in him to make her want him mow that Arys. Yes, Shaz is a nice guy with a good heart and is a wolf. If it were me it would not be enough though.
Alexa, Alexa, Alexa, what am I going to do with you? She made me want to punch her so many times it was ridiculous. I can't even put into words how I feel about her because it is so mixed. I wish she would just pick one guy (arys) and put the other one out of his misery. You shouldn't string two men along. It's not nice. Frankly she is already tied to one man in more ways than one so that should be the choice!!!
I can't really go into details anymore without giving away crucial points about the characters. It would just ruin it. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the second in this series!!

Book rearranging
I think its time to make some more room. There are a lot of good books coming out and some complete the series and some authors just have multiple books coming out in the next few months and next year. The pictures do not do any justice as to how many books I actually have since some are stacked on top of others and put in front of others. Not to mention how many I have on my nook.
Actually I plan on making a post about the pros and cons to having a nook and paperback/hardcover soon. Anyways updates on the final process will be up soon....

Born of Ashes Book Review
Author: Caris Raone
Series: The world of Ascension
Star Rating: 3
Don't get me wrong I enjoy this series but this book was not on the level the others were. It was still a good book in it's own right but I had hoped for more.
The series picks up where the last book leaves off almost. When Fiona and Jean-Pierre meet in the hospital for the first time. This book deals with the trauma Fiona suffer's at Rith's hands. As we found out in the previous book Fiona was drained of her blood to death and then repeatedly brought back to life. Also known as dying blood and is highly addictive. The trauma she suffered follows her everywhere including into her new relationship. This is what made the book hard to get through. She is very resistant to everything. I don't blame her it's not her fault but it was very frustrating at times. Especially when I feel that if she just let's go she would feel much better.
Jean-Pierre was also hurt in the past by a loved one. This prevent's him from fully opening himself up to Fiona the way he should. He was a trooper giving the space and time that Fiona needed even when it hurt him in the process.
In the end there is love, bloodshed, revenge, exploration, new found gift's and lots of love to be had in this book. I enjoyed the ending very much.
The next book Thorne and Marguerite will be interesting. We did get to see quite a bit of them in this book. I have a feeling though I am going to want to knock Marguerite out though.
We also got to see more of Endelle. I can't wait for her book in the end. It will be quite interesting.

Dark Frost Book review
Author: Jennifer Estep
Star rating: Four stars
This book picks up a little after the last book. With the ski trip going wrong, almost dying at the hands of Preston. The story picks up with the gang at the museum to look at artifacts for a homework assignment. While Daphne, Oliver, Gwen and Logan are looking at the weapons mass chaos erupts. Reaper's storm in looking for something and leaving destruction in their wake. Gwen has a run in with her mother's killer. Lives are lost, chaos ensues, and the world changes in just a few weeks in this book.
In this book there are a lot of emotions to process. Gwen unfortunately yet again is at the center of it all. The reaper's want her for two things. Those two things are not good. Unfortunately she doesn't know this and unknowingly follows what she does best. Putting herself into bad situations and putting strains on her relationships. In the end we find more about her mother, her grandmother, Loki, and Nike's plan for her all along.
This book was good but at time I felt angered by Gwen, and many of the other characters because they all treated each other like crap. In the end everything works itself out as most all do. I recommend reading this book. The series is definitely building and I can't wait for the next book to see what happens next!

Golden Lily Review from Goodreads Date June 13th, 2012
The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Stupid computer. I had this long review and now it is gone. So since I don't remember what I said I will give a short review.
I was never a big fan of Rose and Dmitri so therefore I feel Bloodlines will surpass Vampire Academy in my opinion. Especially with all the obstacles Sydney and Adrian will have to overcome to be with each other. They have to get past the mental shields and teaching Sydney was corrupted with as a child. Adrian will have to slowly break her barriers to reach her. Sydney will have to overcome so many fears. Fears of using magic. Fears of how she feels about Adrian. She has so much to break through. Most of it will be mental. With Adrian it will be showing her how she can slowly overcome it by helping her little by little.
First off I did not like Brayden he was boring and doesn't understand that with Sydney her "family" comes first. And with that him saying she is irresponsible was him just being an even bigger idiot. The fact that he couldn't see past the inconsistencies and see that she was beautiful in her costumes made me dislike him even more. I could not believe Sydney would continue to date him even though she couldn't understand why she didn't feel any sparks.
Anyways. My love for Adrian grew 100x more in this book. Adrian showed me how much of a great guy he is in this book. From the way he slowly hints to Sydney she is beautiful to the way he defends her when she feels she doesn't want to do anything.
Sydney you can tell has a thing for Adrian she just doesn't even realize it because she is to naive. I feel though that once she gets away from her fears and interacts more with her "family" she will be a hard person to mess with.
Anyways, I don't know what more to say other than the last chapter of the book is the most amazing aside from the scene where they are driving back from seeing Adrian's father. I loved this book more than the first. Can't wait for the next.

Frostbite Graphic Novel Review
Author: Richelle Mead
Adapted by: Leigh Dragoon
Illustrated by: Emma Vieceli
Star Rating: Five stars
Frostbite is the second graphic novel to be adapted from the Vampire Academy Series. If you have not read the actual book series. I recommend that you do. There is so much more in the books that you just are not able to put into a graphic novel.
The story of this book/graphic novel is someone is picking of the royal families one at a time. The strigoi (the bad vampire's that kill human's moroi and dhampir's to gain strength) are using the unexpected to achieve this. We run into love, anger, loss, and unexpected achievement's.
In this we meet new character's.
Janine Hathaway: Rose Hathaway's mother and Guardian to one of the royal families.
Adrian Ivashkov: Lissa's cousin. Also has special abilities but if you have not read the books I will not mention what. (Also this is my favorite character in this entire series.)
Tasha Ozera: Christian's aunt and survivor of strigoi attack. (Later on in the series she plays a major role in the series.)
I loved that they were able to adapt this book into images so well without leaving out too much the important stuff. Though the ending still get's me every time. To see it in images other than my mind makes it more real in the imaginary world of VA.
I recommend reading this if you are a fan of the series. If you have not read it yet. Please read the books first starting with Vampire Academy. Then read the graphic novel's!
Fever Moon Graphic Novel Review
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever Series Graphic Novel
Adapted by David Lawrence
Illustrated by: Al Rio and Cliff Richards
Star rating: Five stars
This graphic novel by Karen Marie Moning takes place in the middle of Shadowfever. This is part of the book where the Fear Dorcha is stealing part of people's faces. It is up to Mckayla to put an end to this.
I loved the illustration's and the way they brought the character's to life. I loved seeing such important scenes on page. It was done beautifully. The image's though that got me were the ones of where she was being turned priya and then Barron's bringing her back. Yes, there are images. This graphic novel is not for those under the age of 18. Hence the reason for it being in the adult romance section.
I love seeing Barron's on page. Unfortunately sometime's my mind cannot make a clear picture of character's and he is one of those few. I pictured him differently but it fits him.
Another plus regarding this was that Karen also added additional stuff besides the graphic's. She added behind the scene's and character sketches to the end of the book.
I definitely recommend those who are a fan of this series to buy this and get it for your collections. It is a must have!

Book Review of Heart of Gold
Author: Jessica Bird a.k.a J.R. Ward
Category: Romance
Original release date: 2003 by Ivy books
Re-release date: 2012 by Signet Books
Star rating out of 5: 5 stars
This book is the second book J.R. Ward wrote her first book was Leaping Hearts. Eventually she went on to write several other "normal" romance novels before her Black Dagger Brother hood and Fallen Angel series. Don't be discouraged to read these books. When I first saw these books being released I was hesitant at first as well. I love her BDB series and didn't think these books could live up to how I felt about them. The first book I read was Unforgettable Lady (I will try and find my reviews and post this on the site). I fell in love with the book and could wait to get my hands on the next ones.
Now that I have given that small little back story let's focus on the current book!
The book Heart of Gold takes place mainly in the Adirondacks of New York State. The two main characters Carter Wessex who is the states best Archaeologist and Nick Farrell hardheaded businessman. Carter goes to Nick after hearing about the possibility of solving a murder that happened back in the late 1700's and asks for permission to do a dig to unravel the mysteries behind the story. Which leads to love, heartbreak, danger, and reunions.....
Carter Wessex daughter of a famous wealthy businessman. She leaves that life to spend most of her time in the dirt and away from all the fancy parties. Later on in the book we come to learn the reason behind her making these choices. She doesn't trust businessmen like her father which makes this book fun. She is hardheaded and stubborn. Carter is also loyal and protective of those she considers family. When she loves she puts her whole self into it. She clashes a lot with Nick, this makes the book so much fun to read.
Nick is your typical alpha male. Afraid to love and never settles down with one female and always dates the same socialites. He is hardheaded, demanding, do as I say or else. This crumbles when he meets Carter. He is an uncle to his sister's son Cort who lives with him. Later on it's revealed how things ended up the way they did and why he is who he is.
I fell in love with both of these characters. When they first meet it's electric. The banter back and forth had me laughing and it just keeps going throughout the books.
My favorite scene in the book is when Carter goes to Nick for permission to dig on his mountain. Eventually he starts in on her clothing and few other things about her and leads to this line from her...
" No, it's the flashing ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS sign over your desk."
When I read that I couldn't stop laughing. The main reason is because no one talks to Nick Farrell that way ever. For her to do that is amazing! He has a reputation of being a shark and he tosses people out on their asses for much less than what she said.
Anyway's before I go out all spoil the book for everyone. Give this a chance. It is a great book and all the characters are great very well developed and makes you fall for them instantly. Yes you will get pissed at some of them but that what makes it a great book. When the author makes you feel and see what the characters do!!
Happy reading!

Enraptured Book Review
Author: Elisabeth Naughton
Series: Eternal Guardians
Star Rating out of 5: 5 Stars
Well at first I did not know what to think or feel. I was always intrigued by Orpheus. Especially with his interactions with Isadora. Once I got past Skyla and her hating ways in the beginning and got more into the book that's when I finally started liking her.
I love finally knowing what and who Orpheus is and was. I like seeing that he is more than just the guy everybody hates. They didn't like him because they could never see the real him. It's sad that it took Gryphon to die for everyone to see that he has a heart like they do. Orpheus and Demetrius are similar in so many ways. Though the main way they are similar is the fact they they both feel no one can love an evil person and they both feel they don't have souls that a woman can fall in love with. Everything he does in this book makes you fall for him even harder than in the first and second books. You finally get to see the real loving guy he can be.
Skyla, what to say about little miss. I did not like her in the beginning because she was not telling Orpheus everything she knows. I understand that she was on a mission and for her that always comes first. But what she did to the man in the past and then going to try to pull the same thing on him again. That really made me mad. But finally when they hit the Miso's compound that's when I finally started to like her because she was finally showing the real her. The one who is in love. The one who will not let anything stand in the way. It's sad how Athena and Zeus told her such lies. In the end what she does for Orpheus is the ultimate sacrifice to show him she loved him from the beginning and never forgot.
In the end I enjoyed this book. I can't wait to learn more about Medea and Gryphon!
Stygian's Honor book Review
Author: Lora Leigh
Series: Breeds
Star Rating out of 5: 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book in the end. This story continues pretty much where we left off in Lawe's Justice where they are looking for a cure for Jonas's daughter.
I have to admit I wanted to slap Liza more than I care to admit. No wait punch her is more like it. I don't know how to explain why I felt so much anger toward her. Maybe it's the way she just brushed off Stygian tossed him aside like he was nothing. She should have let him in so he could help her figure stuff out. It would have been easier. I understand that she was confused, hurt, and angry with how her life was messed with but it could have been eased if she just let him in. But in the end she finally and wholeheartedly lets him in. This moment was beautiful in of its self.
I love love love Stygian he kept his distance when she asked even when it's against his nature. He wanted to help her so much but he wanted to be respectful. The love he felt for her you could tell was right off the bat. From the first teasing words to her in the SUV on the way to the hotel in the beginning. Then towards the end everything comes together with these two.
We find out more about Gideon, Honor, Fawn, and Judd. I hope Fawn and Gideon's book is next.
Also in this book we see that Dog is cooking up some scheme. I honestly am trying to figure out if what happened was a distraction to get to Cassie or not. Who knows because after what happened we only learn about Honor and Fawn we don't know what happened with the rest of the hotel as well. We still have to keep in mind there is a breed that is hiding who want's Cassie. She even tries to figure out why she is in town with the rest of them.
Anyway's can't wait for the next book! But Bengal's Heart is still my Favorite sorry Stygian!!

Book Review Crux by Moira Roger's
Author: Moira Roger's
Series: Southern Arcana
Star rating out of 5 stars: 4 stars
When I saw this as a free read on B&N I was skeptical. There are very few free reads that I come across on my own that I enjoy and this was one that I really enjoyed.
The story revolves around Mackenzie who is on the run from a guy she had met a few months prior. He's been stalking and chasing her through city after city. The reasons behind it are for an agenda that is revealed roughly in the middle of the book. Mackenzie finally ends up in New Orleans and gets a job as a bartender in a local bar. Trying to save up for her to move on to the next city she will run too. Instead she meet's the gorgeous Jackson Holt. She is completely in awe by his eyes. As the book goes on it's revealed to us who these character's are. The relationship builds between Kenzie and Jackson sparks fly.
I would reveal more about the book but then I would give everything away. The author had a wonderful way of sucking me right into the book. The details were great I felt like I was there actually experiencing what the characters do. I love the back stories and where she takes it. I can't wait to read the next book.
Were's, Psychics, witch's, oh my.....

Book Review Marly's Choice by Lora Leigh
Author: Lora Leigh
Series: Men of August
Star Rating out for 5 stars: Four stars
Let me first off state, IF YOU ARE NOT INTO M/M/M/F M/M/F DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT READ THIS BOOK.
Okay now that I go that out of the way. I enjoyed this book. Not as good as the Nauti Boy Series, but I still liked it. Yes this series did come out prior to Nauti Boys.
The story revolves around Marley who as a child was molested and her mom put her in a place that she thought was safe with the August brother's in Texas. Her mother then started to go on the run trying to draw out the attacker away from Marly. The story picks up with Marly on break from college and going to her "Grampa Joe's" funeral. Mind you she is not related to the August brother's they just raised her from a child. Throughout the book we see a relationship build between Cade and Marly. Behind that is someone is stalking Marly and they all try to find out who this someone is.
Marly is still a bit young and naive but knows what she wants. She has no problem pushing boundaries with Cade. Eventually all the pent up lust and frustration builds and things go crazy. She knows what he wants and she thought she was willing to give it to him....
Cade a man with a dominate alpha male personality tries his best to stay away from Marly as much as he can but it's hard for him. He has such a strong personality that he buts heads with everyone around him especially when Marly is around.
I don't want to give too much away but besides the sex and trust me it's really more towards the end. Unlike most Lora Leigh books it does not completely dominate it. Yes there is a lot of teasing and build up to the actual main parts. And trust me if you like the M/M/F M/M/M/F IT GETS HOT...
Happy reading!

Very new to this....
Okay. I don't know what to do or how to begin. But let's just start out with a normal post. In the last four years (to the day) I have been reading books non stop. I was never really a big book reader in high school. The first book I ever remember truly reading and loving was Switched by R.L. Stine. This book gave me the chills. I remember reading it and thinking what is going on? It had drawn me into it. Two best friends which the writer believes switched places when in all reality it's something else entirely. I was in sixth grade when I read this. I still have it too.
When I hit my high school years I never read much of anything unless the school assigned it to me. Even then I unfortunately never really cared. It's sad too. I wish now that I would have paid attention and read the books. It wasn't until my senior year and my final high school English class that I fell in love with a book my teacher picked out specifically for me. While everyone else was reading Animal Farm and other selected books. I was given Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book made all my emotions spill. I could not explain it. I read the book in two days. To me that was quick for someone who never gave reading a chance. I felt as if I was the character and living her life. I had some rough times in high school especially with boys. So I felt as if I could relate to the character. Later on I eventually saw the lifetime movie version of this book. It was good but the book was better.
When I gave the book back to my teacher he asked my thought's on the book. After he did that I then was given a second book to read. Here I am on a second book and the rest of the class is still reading their first book. This was back in 2004. Nowadays Who knows what the kids are reading. This second book that I was given is one we all know. Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Again this book took me under four days to read. I cried. I could not believe what was happening. It opened me up to some many emotions. A girl watching her best friend and the guy she liked getting together. Watching everything they were doing. Looking over her father who was constantly trying to find his little girl when all the while the rapist was right next door and her body in the corn field by the house. By now if you haven't read the book you have seen the movie. By the way, I preferred the book over the movie. There is just so much emotion in the book that you just can't see on film.
After I graduated high school with the memory of those books in my mind, I went to Barnes and Noble and bought Lucky by Alice Sebold. When I dove into this book I was slammed into a city I knew well. Syracuse, New York, SU campus. This memoir of her took place not 30 minutes from where I lived. Alice went to college at Syracuse University. But for all intents and purposes the names were all changed in the book. It starts off with the perspective of a college girl who was studying late and was walking back to her dorm room when she is attacked and raped. People walk by as it's happening and thought it was people having sex. As the book goes on no one believes her and they all distance themselves. One day she spots her rapist and then puts into motion to get him arrested. This over a couple years time if I remember correctly. Again this book made me angry, sad, happy and it also made me cry. No one should ever have to go through something like that.
It was a long time before I began reading again. I lost interest because I started working and didn't have much time to read. Okay everyone take a guess on what book had me reading again...
Answer: Twilight.
Yes, I know how obvious. When I was younger I loved vampires and all the paranormal. I just never was into reading. My boyfriends mom and sister recommended this book to me a few months before I actually read it. I kept telling them I don't read it will be boring. After months of them telling me to read it I decided to give it a try. It took me forever to get past the first four chapters. I was so bored. I thought Bella was boring. As I kept reading I began to get interested in it. I finished the book in three days. In the end I finished the entire series in one week. This series opened me up to many more book series that are much more well written and more complex.
Now I am in the middle of about thirty or more series not including the series that have been completed by the authors. Hopefully I can get a hang of this whole reviewing process and write some reviews for everyone.
This is just my small history of books that have had me interested in reading and the one to finally push me into the world of books.
Until next time :)
